This painting is part of a larger series titled Next Exit. Each painting is inspired by those late night road trips, driving through the middle of nowhere, only to come across the glowing salvation that is these bright glowing American logos. I think it’s funny to consider that even at the farthest corners of the earth, at the end of the longest road, you will still end up stumbling across a big glowing sign, drawing your attention.
When I originally passed this Quality Sleep Mattress Store for the first time, I couldn’t help but laugh. I find that as we age, quality sleep is less and less easy to come across. Ranging from folks like me whose sleep never seems like enough, to folks I know and love who can’t sleep to sleep at all. Maybe it’s just our mattresses.
